Eva's parents lived in another suburb of Sophia a couple kilometers - and a couple hills - to the east of Simeonovo.

They had a small property but every bit of it was planted with vegetables and fruits. Grape vines grew profusely from the terrace out.

The "development" goes back to the 1950s and most of the homes are from that time. Streets in this hilly area were never paved and essentially one vehicle wide. Most people walk to the bus stop some 20 minutes away.

Nearby is a United Nations monument (1960s?) having a bell donated by every UN member country.
